Rochester Police have charged a city man with attempted aggravated murder after they say he tried to stab an officer on Thursday night.

Police were called to 96 Louise Street for a report of people stabbed. Once there, officers found two victims outside the house, one stabbed and one injured from jumping out of a window to escape the suspect.

Police also saw two other people, leaning outside a window and screaming that they were locked in and that someone was trying to break in and had a knife.

Police forced their way into the house and they say when 26 year old Officer Amber Grosch opened the door, she was confronted by 47 year old Leon Roach who lunged at her while swinging a knife.

The officer was struck by a knife to the chest, but authorities say Grosch had a bullet-resistant vest and the knife did not penetrate that. She did suffer a hand injury and was treated at the hospital and released.

Besides the aggravated attempted murder count, Roach was also charged with assault and other charges are possible.
