The public boat launch at the Irondequoit Bay State Marine Park in Seabreeze has reopened.
Town Supervisor Dave Seeley says after a challenging year of high winds and flooding in the water front town, it’s nice to celebrate a victory.
"We love our proximity to the water; it’s one of our greatest assets. This year it created challenges as well, but the fact that we're getting to enjoy that proximity to the water as opposed to fighting it I think is a step in the right direction."
Seeley said it feels like a sense of normalcy is returning to the town, with the popular boat launch running once again.
There was no damage to the docks, since they are floating and portable. The town, which runs the boat launch, will be offering a reduced weekend fee of $6 for the shortened season.
It will also be accepting the state issued "Empire Pass" which provides unlimited access to state-owned boat launches throughout New York.
A state of emergency remains in effect in Irondequoit, boaters must travel at an idle speed within 500 feet of the shore and create no wake in all other parts of the bay.
