According to Rochester Police, the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified a body found Tuesday near Shumway Marine as that of James Allen.

The 25 year old Rochester man was reported missing on May 26th.

The cause of death is still being determined. The body was found near the mouth of the Genesee River. Allen was last seen May 24th on a security video running down Carthage Alley. Friends say he was not being chased.

Allen is a former U of R student who was attending MCC and he worked at Tapas 177 Lounge, a restaurant on St. Paul Street.

On a Facebook page that was set up to help look for Allen, his stepfather, Doug Schoenheit wrote, "Though we expected this heart breaking news it was still hard to hear it confirmed. We are all now processing through it, along with his many close friends that were so involved in the search for him since last Wednesday."
