Monroe County officials are announcing the next phase in the massive renovation project planned for the Greater Rochester International Airport.
County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo says the first significant bid package on the main terminal building is being released this week.
It includes an expanded center security checkpoint, with more efficient lanes for travelers and new areas to unpack and repack belongings before and after screening; a more secure way to have passengers exit and a new greeting area in the lower level of the terminal.
Dinolfo also was joined by local leaders of the building trades to announce a Project Labor Agreement.
She says that agreement will provide more than $500,000 in cost savings to the county, as it provides flexibility in work scheduling to meet project deadlines.
The airport renovations are part of a $60 million project that includes $40 million from New York State. The remaining $20 to $24 million comes from a combination of federal funds, and money that is generated by the airport.
Work will ramp up in September and is expected to be completed by October 2018.
