Republican Joe Carbone beat out Democrat Stephanie Aldersley in the Special Election to replace Vincent Esposito.
Esposito resigned the seat in July to accept a position with Governor Andrew Cuomo's Empire State Development team. This was Carbone's second straight attempt to win this seat after losing last November to Esposito.
Carbone says his goal in the legislature is to keep taxes flat, streamline government and help create jobs. His victory gives the Republicans a 19-10 majority in the county legislature.
