Some big changes are in store for Marketplace Mall. It’s related to the impending closure of the Bon Ton department store.
Wilmorite, which owns the Marketplace and other area malls, says it is preparing a re-development plan that will generate new jobs and sales tax growth for Henrietta. A public hearing has been scheduled in that town December 16th about those plans as well as proposed county tax breaks.
According to a notice filed about the hearing, Wilmorite plans to demolish at least a portion of the Bon Ton after the store closes in March, as well as take down the former DSW shoe store.
Plans also call for bringing in a new anchor store and specialty shops and restaurants. Mall officials are also looking at replacing the roof at Marketplace.
Wilmorite officials say that more details are expected in the coming weeks.
