The Seneca Nation has approved a referendum allowing leaders to explore the possibility of growing medical marijuana on the reservation.WBFO's Cheryl Hagen has the story...
Seneca Nation Treasurer Todd Gates says the potential for more jobs is there, but quickly adds there is much to discuss.
"The Point of control is really what is going to drive this whole thing," says Gates. "We can't have people growing plants anywhere and not having that control there. There's strains of marijuana that are required for certain uses. That's where we'd have to look at and have a real, real security and control on it."
Gates says there's no timetable for coming up with a decision. The measure was approved by less than 100 votes with 448 in favor of the idea and 364 against the plan.
