Rochester Police have now charged the man involved in an exchange of gunfire with an officer last Friday night.
He’s identified as 34 year old Silvon Simmons of the city. He faces charges of attempted aggravated murder of a police officer and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police said that when they were checking out a suspicious vehicle on Immel Street, Simmons fired at Officer Joseph Ferrigno, but missed him. Ferrigno fired back, hitting Simmons three to four times.
Simmons was arraigned in the hospital. He’s listed in satisfactory condition.
