Greece Teen Who Was Subject Of Amber Alert Now Facing Grand Larceny Charge

TWC News

Greece Police have now charged the teen who was the subject of an Amber Alert early Monday afternoon.

Police say that 16 year old Cassidy Geffert faces a grand larceny charge for the theft of a handgun from her house.

The amber alert went out across the state at about 2pm on Monday, and that alert was received by many people with cell phones.

The initial report indicated the possible abduction of a 16 year old girl from a house on Talnuck Drive in Greece. The first amber alert talked about the possibility a car was also taken from the house.

Greece Police Chief Pat Phelan says family members of Cassidy Geffert contacted police because she wasn't home, and there were some other concerns.

"There was a note that really wasn't very specific but it indicated that she may have been in some kind of danger and that she might be leaving the state"

Phelan says a car was missing from the house and there were some other suspicious circumstances.

But Geffert was found safe and sound along with the car in Brockport about an hour later, and the chief says this was not  an abduction.

Phelan does feel the Amber Alert system did what it was supposed to, and that is alert people around the region to a possible missing teenager.
