Few people view a battle with cancer as laugh-out-loud funny, but Dan Shapiro, Ph.D., says if you can find some humorous moments along the way, it can be healing for both your mind and body.
Shapiro is a psychologist and the Vice Dean for Faculty and Administrative Affairs at the Penn State College of Medicine and chair of the Department of Humanities.
He'll be in Rochester tonight, delivering his talk "A Funny Thing Happened on My Way to Chemotherapy".
Click on the LISTEN link above to hear Shapiro talk about his own cancer story and what he learned along the way.
Tonight’s 2015 Ben Sischy, M.D. Visiting Scholar in Humane Medicine Lecture is free and open to the public, but you are asked to register at event.urmc.edu/sischy
