Well-known outdoor sporting goods company REI is coming to Rochester. The Seattle-based company says it will be coming to the CityGate complex this fall.
The store will be located at the north side of the Erie Canal, and the retailer says that with the Finger Lakes and several ski resorts nearby, the 27,000 square foot store will carry gear for snow and water sports in addition to other goods.
REI expects to hire 50 people for the new store.
REI also announced plans to open a store in Winter Park, Florida next year. REI describes itself as the nation's largest consumer co-op, with a community of 5.5 million members.
