Kodak is celebrating its film heritage this coming Sunday, when the annual Academy Awards are held.
The company that is such an integral part of Rochester’s history may focus most of its business on commercial printing and packaging now, but it has been seeing somewhat of resurgence in its film business, at least in terms of media buzz about some of its products.
Kodak’s motion picture film is made right here, and the company has been actively courting major Hollywood studios in recent years to get them to continue to use film in their movies even as digital technology continues to be increasingly used in motion pictures. Kodak also re-introduced a new version of its iconic Super 8 camera.
And now, on Sunday night, Kodak will host an invitation-only Oscar-themed fundraiser to benefit the American Heart Association. The gala will include a red carpet reception followed by photos of guests holding Oscar statuettes, celebrating Kodak’s nine Academy Awards for technical achievement.
Kodak executives including CEO Jeff Clarke will also be hosting the party, which is at the Kodak Center for Performing Arts, formerly known as Theater on the Ridge, on Sunday night.
