Several musicians and groups will be performing at a benefit concert for the family of slain Rochester Police Officer Daryl Pierson next month.
The December 6th concert will be held at the Main Street Armory. One of the headliners is Rochester native Lou Gramm, former lead singer of the group Foreigner.
Gramm was touched by the shooting death of Pierson while the young officer was in pursuit of a suspect in September.
"It was such a tragedy. He was a good man,” Gramm said. “He had a bright future ahead of him and a beautiful family. It just touched that spot in my heart and made me want to do whatever I can."
Gramm said the concert, which will also feature former Journey lead vocalist Steve Augeri and some local groups, will be in Officer Pierson's memory.
"We're there to party in his honor. The main reason we're there is to raise money and to take the pressure off his family."
Proceeds from the $20 per ticket event will be given to Pierson's widow, Amy. She is raising two young children.
