McMurray files for another congressional run

"McMurray for U.S. Congress" website

Grand Island's Nate McMurray is positioning himself for another possible run for Congress.

McMurray, who narrowly lost the 27th Congressional race to Chris Collins in 2018, has comfirmed to WBFO that he has filed with the Federal Elections Commission. McMurray, however, said the move does not lock him into the race in 2020.

McMurray declined an interview to discuss the matter with WBFO, but in a text said the filing"keeps his options open."

Last year, the Democrat came within a percentage point of beating Collins, the incumbent Republican who enjoyed a huge partisan edge among the electorate. The 27th district has the largest Republican membership of any New York Congressional district.

Collins currently faces at least two challengers from his own party. State Sen. Chris Jacobs (R-Buffalo) and Fox News contributor Beth Parlato have announced their candidacies. Medal of Honor recipient David Bellavia is also being encouraged to make another run in his home district.
