Memorial service details for longtime local Assemblyman David Gantt have been announced.

The 137th District Democrat had been in the Assembly for 37 years when he died last Wednesday at the age of 78, after dealing with health issues in recent years.

His district includes parts of the City of Rochester and the Town of Gates.

His family is inviting the public to view his body at Church of Love Faith Center at 700 Exchange Boulevard on Friday, July 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Faced with a distinct shortage of opioid detox beds locally, the town of Gates is partnering with three addiction treatment centers in Pennsylvania, town officials said Thursday.

Gates to Recovery, the drop-in center for people seeking treatment for addiction in the town, announced what it called “a collaborative project” that will allow Monroe County residents to be treated across state lines.

We sit down with Mark Assini, Gates town supervisor and the Republican candidate for Congress in the 25th district. Assini is hoping to defeat incumbent Louise Slaughter in November. We'll talk to him about his views on a wide range of issues, including the Affordable Care Act, the minimum wage, taxes, and foreign policy. It's part of our continuing effort to bring candidates for prominent offices to the show and allowing those listening live an opportunity to interact with them directly.
