fast forward film festival

The Fast Forward Film Festival is back, bringing a series of short films with an environmental bent. The entries tackle subjects ranging from a future without nature, to energy efficiency in homes.

We talk about not only the films, but the very latest in climate news. Several sources report that the EPA has sent a memo to staff, encouraging them to use misleading statements about climate change. Our guests:

  • Dr Andy Stern, founder of the Fast Forward Film Festival
  • Ben Mills, director of Chimera, 2018 Official Adult Selection
  • Danielle Moore, producer, writer, and actor for Chimera, 2018 Official Adult Selection
  • Sean P. Donnelly, producer and director of SUPERHOUSE, 2018 Official Adult Selection
  • Kate McArdle, member of the advisory council for the Fast Forward Film Festival, and community outreach coordinator at the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute

The annual Fast Forward Film Festival is coming, bringing an environmental bent to short films. We've had a chance to watch the films, and our guests explain how they use film to explore questions about climate, art, nature, and more. Our guests:

  • Andy Stern, founder of the Fast Forward Film Festival, and co-founder and executive director of The Lost Bird Project
  • Ben Doran, RIT student and  filmmaker of Log.txt
  • Mary Moore, homeschooled senior and filmmaker of The Decay
  • Eleanore Barrera, senior at Our Lady of Mercy High School and filmmaker of The Decay

Now in its second year, the Fast Forward Film Festival encourages local filmmakers to utilize the power of visual storytelling to raise awareness and knowledge of environmental issues. The “for local, by local” festival is now accepting submissions for shorts that inspire change and connect our community.

We talk with the festival’s founder, and two of last year’s award-winning filmmakers. Our guests:

  • Andy Stern, founder of the Fast Forward Film Festival, and co-founder and executive director of The Lost Bird Project
  • Tom Gasek, 2015 award-winning filmmaker and professor of animation at RIT
  • Kristin Smith, 2015 award-winning filmmaker and Mercy high school student
