Windstream cuts some Rochester jobs

A local telecommunications company is announcing some layoffs.

Windstream says that 16 positions in Rochester are being eliminated, primarily in the company’s enterprise business unit, which provides communications and data services to businesses across the U.S.

Windstream says it is making the changes to operate more efficiently and to continue to invest in its strategic growth areas.  The company will provide severance benefits to individuals who jobs are being eliminated.

Windstream has about 600 employees in Monroe County. Earlier this year, it moved more than 300 employees from a location at Monroe Avenue and Alexander Street, to the building Windstream had already been working out of on South Clinton Avenue, in the Seneca Building.
