Wegmans is trying to help part-time employees keep health insurance benefits. The company announced earlier in the week that it was changing eligibility requirements for part-time workers, because of the new federal health care legislation.

Starting in 2015, only employees working 30 hours or more per week would be eligible for the company’s healthcare benefits.

On Saturday, Wegmans issued a statement which said it would work with employees in partnership through these changes. The company says in some cases, that will mean scheduling additional hours for employees who are able to expand their availability to work.

Wegmans issued a statement on Thursday saying that it would not do anything that will hurt its employees.
