WATCH: Dydine Umunyana's story of survival

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide - a human tragedy that took the lives of an estimated 800,000 to one million people in 100 days. Dydine Umunyana barely lived to tell about it. She poignantly shares her story of surviving the conflict and the trauma of the aftermath in her memoir Embracing Survival. As the title of her book suggests, Umunyana found a way to seek strength and beauty in the most desolate of moments, and to look at life through the lens of hope.
