The village elections around our area on Tuesday included another ballot by voters in Lyons to dissolve the village and join with the Town of Lyons. Residents also voted for dissolution in 2012, but opponents were able to force another referendum on the issue.
The most recent vote came in with 474 residents in favor of dissolving the Village of Lyons and 309 opposed. Some absentee votes still have to be counted. Assuming the final vote becomes official, the village will be dissolved as of 2016.
Among the other elections, in Hilton, incumbent Mayor Joseph Lee defeated 21 year old Andrew Fowler, winning 65 percent of the vote. Fowler is still on the village board as a trustee.
In Ontario County, in the Village of Naples, Mayor Brian Schenk was reelected to a second term defeating former Mayor Don Braun.
The winners for village mayor in Livingston County included: Deborah Davis in Caledonia; Barry Briffa in Leicester and Robert Cox in Nunda.
