Truck Crash Closes Part Of 590 In Brighton

A crash involving a tanker truck and a smaller truck closed a portion of I-590 near I-490 on Monday afternoon for several hours.

One person was killed and another seriously injured after a truck went off a ramp and onto 590 in Brighton just after 1:00 p.m.

The driver of the tractor trailer, 25 year old Daniel Baker of Wyoming, N.Y.,  was taken to Strong Hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle, 40 year old Shawn Wetmore of Batavia,  was found dead at the scene. Some of the contents of the tanker truck, which contained food waste,  spilled and haz-mat crews were also at the scene.

State Police say it appears the driver of the tanker truck was traveling westbound on 490 going to the 590 southbound exit ramp when he lost control of the truck and it rolled over the barrier onto 590 northbound where it collided with the other truck.

The crash  closed 590 in both directions near Blossom Road for several hours. The lanes were reopened Monday night.
