Suspect in knife attack on RPD officer pleads not guilty

Spectrum News

About 200 officers and other supporters of Officer Denny Wright packed a Rochester courtroom on Tuesday for the arraignment of 28 year old Keith Williams.

Williams pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted aggravated murder and aggravated assault of a police officer.

He is the Peck Street man accused in what authorities say was a brutal knife attack on Wright last Friday.

The 23-year department veteran was responding to a call of family trouble at the Peck Street house when officials say he was stabbed repeatedly by Williams.

The officer is still being treated at Rochester General Hospital.

Williams is scheduled to be back in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing.
