State Police Completes Rape Investigation

By Mark Giardina

Rochester NY – After weeks of conducting an investigation into charges that three Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies raped a 20-year old woman, The New York State Police handed over their findings to Monroe County District Attorney Howard Relin.Relin must now decide whether or not to present the case to a county grand jury. The alledged rape victim said she was sexually assaulted in November of last year at the Sheriff's Department substation in the town of Henrietta after being taken into police custody. The woman's claim brought famed criminal attorney Johnnie Cochran to Rochester, where he filed legal paperwork against the county. Cochran said he is representing the woman's interests because she is afraid for her life. Cochran, along with the local chapter of the NAACP, is also calling for a federal probe into the alledged rape case.
