St. John Fisher College has announced a $75 million fundraising campaign. The so-called ‘quiet phase’ already began some time ago and has already collected $42 million in donations.
College President Gerard Rooney and former Board Chair Vic Salerno announced details about the campaign during an event Thursday night.
Rooney said that through “Fisher Forward,” the college will provide innovative, high impact educational opportunities on a broader scale and create new avenues for faculty to engage in scholarly research.
Phil Castleberry is Fisher’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement. He says some of the money raised will be used to boost the college’s endowment, which will in turn help more students attend Saint John Fisher.
“Scholarships will be the primary area benefitted by our focus on endowment in this campaign. Our goal has always been, and this goes back to our founding, it’s increasing access to higher education, and this campaign will put us in position to do that,” Castleberry said.
Other parts of the funding will be used for infrastructure, including major renovations to the library, and also putting up a new building to house the School of Arts and Sciences which will also provide more space for the Wegmans School of Pharmacy.
