Small plane crashes in Genesee County; 4 suffer minor injuries

Spectrum News

Four people suffered what are believed to be minor injuries after a small plane crashed Sunday afternoon at the Le Roy Airport.

That’s according to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department which says that the single-engine Beechcraft apparently had trouble on takeoff, and struck an earth embankment. The plane came to rest in an open grass area, with a lot of damage to the plane.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The four people on board included the pilot, 48-year-old John Yates of Canandaigua, his wife, and two children. All four were able to get out of the plane on their own and were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

The FAA is also investigating.
