The University of Rochester's Simon Business School has received a commitment for a $20 million gift. That's the largest single gift commitment ever for that school.
University President Joel Seligman announced the gift at a Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday. The gift was made by an alumnus, a business person who wants to remain anonymous. Officials say the gift will help ensure the professional success of future Simon students and alumni.
Seligman says for the school to maintain its preeminent position among its peers, it has to be able to compete with the best business schools for outstanding faculty and students.
He says the gift will bring the business school past its $85 million goal for a fundraising campaign that ends June 30.
