Seneca Park Zoo to go 'smoke-free'

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo says that the Seneca Park Zoo will become a completely smoke-free facility.

She gave that direction to the county’s parks department and it was supported by a unanimous vote of the Monroe County Board of Health.

The smoke-free designation will result in the elimination of designated smoking areas within the zoo and no guests or staff will be permitted to smoke on zoo grounds.

The ban on smoking will include events held outside regular operating hours, and the smoking ban will also prohibit the use of “electronic cigarette” devices.

The new smoke-free policy is effective May 24.
