Rochester Police investigate murder-suicide at a local nursing home

Rochester Police are investigating what they say is a murder-suicide that happened at a nursing home in the city on Saturday.

Police said it happened around 10:00 a.m. at Wesley Gardens nursing home on Upton Park. RPD said a man in his 80s was visiting his life partner, also in her 80s, who was a resident at the nursing home for a couple of weeks.

Police said the woman’s health had been deteriorating and during a visit the man shot the woman and then turned the gun on himself. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police officials said that at no time during the incident were any residents or staff at the facility in danger.
