Rochester Music Hall Of Fame Announces Inductees

Chuck Mangione, Cab Calloway and Jeff Tyzik are among the headliners named in the inaugural class of inductees into the Rochester Music Hall of Fame.

Also on the list was announced Tuesday: flautist Doriot Anthony Dwyer, opera singer Jenny Lind, drummer Joe English, composer Charles Strouse, guitarist Gene Cornish, and 19th century performance venue Corinthian Hall.

Karl LaPorta, founder and president of the Rochester Music Hall of Fame, says honoring music talent with local ties is a dream come true, "Having these induction ceremonies every year will educate people that...especially our school kids that the musicians that they know aren't the only ones that came from Rochester and the venues, the events. I think this is a great education tool."

LaPorta says this year's inductees span three different centuries of local music history.

The Rochester Music Hall of Fame ceremony is slated for April 29th at the Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.
