A company that is a distributor of food service equipment and supplies in Rochester is expanding.

That according to officials with Empire State Development, who say that Main Ford General Supply will expand its Lyell Avenue facility resulting in six new full-time jobs and the retention of another 24 positions.

Main Ford has been at that location since it opened in the 1960s. State officials say that neighborhood has been severely impacted by poverty and economic distress and they say the company has committed to growing and investing at the location and hiring residents who live there.

The state will provide a $100,000 capital grant and the City of Rochester will provide a $350,000 loan. Monroe County offered tax incentives as well.

The total project is close to $1.3 million
