Rochester Gas and Electric is looking to move from its longtime downtown Rochester location to another spot not too far away.
A spokesman for the utility company says that RG&E will be leaving the building at 89 East Avenue and moving to an office building at 180 South Clinton Avenue, (known as 3 City Center), by late summer or early fall.
Spokesman Nathan Stone says RG&E wants to consolidate some of its operations into the new spot, including a customer care center. He says the South Clinton location has more space for that kind of facility.
There’s no word yet what the 89 East Avenue property may be selling for. The 12-story building was built in 1926 and it was listed for sale last year.
