Racist Facebook Post Gets Woman Fired From RCSD

A contract paraprofessional working at School 15, the Children’s School of Rochester, was fired Monday after an investigation regarding a racist Facebook post.

Cassandra Sutton worked as a substitute prekindergarten paraprofessional, according to Jay Piper, School 15 principal.

Screenshots of her Facebook page show a recent posting where Sutton boasts about catching an African-American man committing a crime in her neighborhood. She used the N word multiple times and other offensive language.

The principal confirmed with WXXI News that Sutton was immediately terminated after the posting and “will not be returning.”

Sutton was hired to work at School 15 this fall through local temporary agency, TES Staffing. She previously worked a substitute role at Lincoln Park School 44.

"The school district informed TES that this person should not report on Monday and will not be allowed to work in any district school in the future," said Rochester City School District in a statement, "Comments like the ones posted are unacceptable and will not be tolerated by anyone who works with District students."

Neither Sutton nor TES Staffing could be reached for comment.
