Rochester, NY – Monroe County's minority in the legislature has a new leader - it's Harry Bronson, a Democratic legislator from the 24th district. Bronson was elected to the job last night, after current minority leader Carla Palumbo stepped down.
Palumbo is leaving the position as her term limit expires, and as her campaign for Rochester city council kicks into gear.
Bronson has served as assistant minority leader since January 2006. He takes up the leadership role at the outset of the election season. While the Democrats don't have a candidate for county executive, the party says it's waging an aggressive campaign to take a majority in the legislature.
Bronson says if the Democrats gain the majority in November, the party will have another meeting to determine who will take the majority leader position.
