New leader for Veterans Service Agency on January 2

Once the calendar turns to 2018, there will be a new leader at Monroe County’s Veterans Services Agency (VSA).

Nicholas Stefanovic, a Marine Corps veteran, becomes the new head of the on January 2. Stefanovic worked with veterans at Warrior Salute Veterans Services and Monroe Community College, before being tapped to lead the VSA, which helps veterans and their families understand the benefits and services provided by the Veterans Administration.

“The veterans’ community is an enormous asset to our society and it is or responsibility in government to ensure that we tap into that potential,” Stefanovic said in a released statement. “In my new mission at Monroe County I will be dedicated to serving each veteran individually and the community as a whole, making sure we do what we can to remove any obstacles that stand in the way of my fellow veterans continuing their service at home.”

Stefanovic takes over for Laura Stradley who moved on to become Executive Director at the Veterans Outreach Center (VOC); Stefanovic is vice chair at the VOC.
