Monroe County golf courses to remain closed

Monroe County golf courses will remain closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

That word came Wednesday from the Monroe County Department of Parks, which is keeping the golf courses at Durand Eastman, Genesee Valley and Churchville Parks closed until further notice. Officials say that it’s essential for everyone to stay home to slow the spread of the virus.

The county issued a statement on Wednesday which said:

“We will continue to monitor the situation and, with guidance from the Department of Public Health, re-evaluate this decision as conditions warrant.

“Until then, we urge everyone to stay home unless you are getting essential items like food, and if you must go out, stay six feet from others outside of your household, and wear a mask when in public locations. The stricter we adhere to these guidelines, the sooner we can ‘flatten the curve’ and return to the activities that we enjoy.”
