Monroe County lifts travel advisory

Monroe County Executive  Cheryl Dinolfo lifted the advisory for 'no unnecessary travel' by noon on Sunday.

But on Sunday Dinolfo continued to encourage residents to stay home if possible due to the frigid cold temperatures and to allow plow crews the ability to clean up after last night’s snow.

Dinolfo also urged people take precautions due to the bitter cold temperatures, doing things like limiting time spent outdoors, bundling in multiple layers, and checking on friends and neighbors with limited mobility.

Dinolfo said that a Code Blue designation is in effect across New York State. Monroe County’s Department of Human Services will be conducting outreach sweeps to offer homeless individuals emergency housing. If anyone is in need of shelter, or knows someone who is, please call the 211 Life Line to access

A travel advisory remains in effect until 6:00 p.m. Sunday in Ontario County. On Sunday, the 'no unneccary travel' advisory in Livingston County was downgraded to just a 'travel advisory.'
