Location announced for new VA outpatient clinic in Henrietta

Officials with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs have announced that they have a location for a new outpatient clinic, something that has been in the works for a number of years now.

The Canandaigua VA Medical Center says the clinic will be located in the Henrietta area, near the intersection of I-390 and Calkins Road on 16 acres of land.

Officials say the new facility will include expanded primary and specialty care.

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, (D-Fairport), says she has been working with the VA for years to secure funding for the project and has been disappointed with the delay in construction.

She says there are about 70,000 veterans living in the Rochester area and they have been shortchanged because they didn’t have a medical facility big enough for their needs.

The new site will have more than 670 parking spaces. Not having enough parking at the current facility on Westfall Road has been one of the reasons officials have been looking to expand veterans’ services.

It’s expected the new clinic will be built by the spring of 2019.
