Fans of Frasier, Cheers, and mainly of actor Kelsey Grammer packed a Tops market in Penfield on Friday.
The line of fans snaked up and down the aisles at the Tops store on Penfield Road, to get a quick conversation and maybe an autograph for the four-pack of beer that Grammer sells through his Faith American Brewing company, located in a small village in the Catskills.
‘I’ve owned this property in upstate new York for 25 years, sort of at the top of the Catskills, it’s a pretty lonely area, the property was once a very thriving place. And I kept thinking what can I do to bring some prosperity back to it, make it productive again,” said Grammer.
He actually started the operation several years ago, but during the pandemic, things had to slow down.
But now Grammer is on the road, promoting his Father American Ale and Faith American Calico Man IPA.
“We are getting some excitement, people are getting kind of a wave of support, and the beer’s good. We’ve got an IPA and a regular sort of a blond ale, a Belgian ale. They’re both really delicious and I’m very proud of them and they’re named after my daughter Faith,” Grammer said.
Among the first to get on line Friday morning for the afternoon event was Penfield resident Michael Meggison who says he’s been watching Cheers since he was a kid, and then Frasier, one of his favorite shows
“I’ve been watching Cheers since I was a kid back in the early 80s, then I started watching Frasier, and Frasier has become one of my favorite shows of all time. That guy has brought me so many laughs when I needed laughs and I’m here basically to pay tribute to a guy that really has made my life happier,” said Meggison.
Grammer said the brewery is a sideline for him, he’s still doing some acting, but he said if the acting thing dries up, he’ll just throw himself into the beer world.
