Just a day after Assemblyman Peter Lawrence announced he won’t be a candidate for re-election, another Republican said he will run for that seat. On Thursday, Josh Jensen, who currently serves as a Town of Greece Councilman, announced his candidacy.
Lawrence has been in office since 2014, and said on Wednesday that he believes it’s time for a new person with a fresh perspective to get an opportunity to represent the 134th district. That district includes the towns of Greece, Ogden and Parma. Lawrence will serve out the remainder of his term this year.
Jensen says that if elected, he will “work tirelessly to advocate for reducing the tax burden on working families and small business.”
Jensen previously worked in various capacities for State Senator Joe Robach, who is not running for re-election this year.
The Monroe County Democratic Committee is backing Dylan Dailor to run for the assembly seat now held by Lawrence.
