ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The leader of one of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's signature economic development initiatives is leaving the administration for a job with a Connecticut-based developer.
Leslie Whatley said Tuesday that she was ready to accept a new opportunity after leading Cuomo's Start-Up New York program since 2013. She will leave in July for a job with the Stamford, Conn.-based company Building and Land Technology.
Whatley told the Associated Press she's proud of Start-Up's accomplishments since it began in 2013.
Start-Up was created by the Democratic governor to use tax breaks to attract businesses to New York state. A report on its first full year, however, found that it only created 76 new jobs.
A report on the program's progress in 2015 is two months late.
Whatley says it should be released "soon."
