Gates Chili says Supt. Kimberle Ward on paid leave; search continues for replacement

The Gates Chili School District has announced that Superintendent Kimberle Ward has been placed on paid administrative leave through next June.

The board named Associate Superintendent Carol Stehm interim superintendent effective immediately.

A brief statement from the district did not go into the reasons for Ward’s departure but said that the search for a new superintendent is progressing on schedule with the expectation a new leader will start on July 1, 2019.

Earlier this year Ward had announced she would be retiring next June, but there hasn’t been more information released about her sudden departure.

Last week, the school board said that Ward was “out of the district” and that Stehm would be covering the duties in her absence.
