Motorists will be pleased to learn about the future of gas prices.

AAA forecasts that the national gas price average will drop to $2.70 this fall and has the potential to drop even more.

The current average per gallon is $2.92 in Rochester.

Spokesperson for AAA Elizabeth Carey says this is when companies start switching from summer gas to winter gas blends.

"The difference between winter blend and summer blend is how it evaporates at different temperatures and winter blend gasoline is always cheaper to make than the summer blend of fuel."

Carey says this summer was a very busy season for driving and that demand drove prices up.
