Flower City Challenge expected to draw thousands on Sunday

There are expected to be more than 3,300 participants in Sunday’s Rochester Regional Health Flower City Challengethat runs through downtown and other parts of the city.

This is the 10th year for the event and it includes a half-marathon, 5k, relay and kids’ races.

The event was started in 2010 as a fitness opportunity that could also showcase Rochester neighborhoods.

Events begin and finish at the Blue Cross Arena at the Rocheser War Memorial.

The Sunday events are organized by the City of Rochester along with YellowJacket Racing & Fleet Feet Sports, and officials note there are several traffic changes to be aware of on Sunday morning into the early afternoon.
