A couple of local Wegmans stores will no longer be open 24 hours

Wegmans says two of its local stores will no longer be open 24 hours, beginning on June 9.

The new hours for the Lyell Avenue store in Gates and the Ridge Culver store in Irondequoit, will be from 6 a.m. until midnight.

Wegmans says that decision was based on the need to shift employee resources to the hours when the vast majority of customers are shopping at those two stores.

Most other Rochester stores are open 24 hours.

Last year, Wegmans also cut the overnight hours at a few stores in the Buffalo and Niagara Falls area for a similar reason.
