We talk about gender policing and what it means to be both black and gay. The impetus for the conversation is an unfortunate series of events surrounding one of the best players in football, Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants. Beckham might not even be gay, and his story prompted Slate.com to lament, "This sort of witch hunt is the reason why black men and athletes still don't like coming out of the closet, and black masculinity continues to make life more difficult for all of us, regardless of our sexuality."
