Connections: Do We Need To Work Longer Hours?

Jeb Bush says Americans need to work longer hours. Is he right? His initial remarks sparked widespread criticism, most vehemently from organized labor and Hillary Clinton. But in clarifying his comments, some economists say Bush has the story at least partially correct: millions of Americans are working part-time, even though they want to be full-time. What's to blame? How to change it? Our panel discusses it:

  • Kent Gardner, Chief Economist with the Center for Governmental Research
  • Jim Bertolone, president of the Rochester and Genesee Valley Labor Federation and AFL-CIO
  • Erin Young, lead organizer for the Rochester and Genesee Valley Labor Federation
