Connections

Coming up on Connections: Monday, September 30

First hour: Discussing the Rochester City School District's budget gap

Second hour: The dance video, "Body Love"

The Rochester City School District is struggling to resolve a significant budget gap. The new superintendent says the district will not slash teaching positions. Critics from outside and from within the school board are calling for significant change. We discuss what that might look like with our guests:

  • Willa Powell, member of the Rochester City School Board
  • Eamonn Scanlon, education and policy analyst for The Children's Agenda

Then in our second hour, we discuss a new dance video called “Body Love,” which celebrates female empowerment. It’s a collaboration between local dancers from The Floor Dance Company and filmmaker Matthew Spaull. We sit down with the team behind the project to discuss their inspiration, their goals, and more. In studio:

  • Kristie Schillaci, owner and director of The Floor Dance Company
  • Paige Arieno, member of The Floor Dance Company
  • Matthew Spaull, filmmaker
  • Elaine Spaull, executive director of the Center for Youth, and member of Rochester City Council
