The Brockport School Board has passed a measure that calls for a re-vote on the proposed budget that was rejected by voters last week.
The school board decided that in a special meeting on Wednesday. Officials say the same $82.5 million spending plan that was defeated May 21 will be up for a re-vote on Tuesday, June 18. Voting that day will be from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Technology and Training Center.
The original vote saw the budget defeated by a vote of 524 votes opposed and 611 in favor.
District residents will be able to learn more about the budget at a public hearing June11, 6pm, at the Fred W. Hill School cafetorium.
Brockport was one of only two local school district budgets to be defeated this month. The other was in Brighton, where the district’s proposed budget would have gone over the state tax cap. Passage would have required at least 60% of the voters to approve it, and the spending plan garnered 55%.
This week, Brighton School officials said that they are developing a revised budget plan, taking feedback into account from local residents.
That revised budget is being discussed at a board meeting on Thursday night.
