Wintry conditions come back in force on Wednesday for the Rochester area and much of upstate NY.
In fact, your cell phone may have gone off with an alert about snow squalls issued by the National Weather Service just after 8am. The weather service started issuing those alerts within the last year or so, partly in response to multi-car pileups in some parts of the country that happened during poor visibility due to snow squalls.
There was a snow squall warning issued on Wednesday from 8 to 9am for Monroe, Livingston, Ontario, Wayne, Orleans and Genesee counties.
There was also a snow squall warning for counties including Ontario and Wayne counties until 9:30 a.m.
The weather service also says there is the possibility of snow squalls up until 11am on Wednesday.
