If you were on the social media pages of some well-known Rochester companies and organizations recently, you may noticed a temporary change in their logo. The logos were morphed, with the help of some software, to make it look like they are melting.

This, campaign, called the #LogoWarming Challenge, was organized by the Rochester People’s Climate Coalitionin partnership with the ad agency, Partners and Napier.

The whole idea is to inspire action against climate change. That’s according to Abigail McHugh-Grifa, who is executive director of the coalition.

“This is really a tool to raise awareness about the urgency of the climate crisis, and how it works is that organizations, businesses, can ‘melt’ their logo, heat it up and melt it, and post that on social media just to demonstrate that they recognize this as an issue, and you know, action,” she explained.

McHugh-Grifa says the hope is to encourage dialogue about how the actions of people affect the future, and what everyone can do to create a more sustainable community. And she said that there will be further discussions locally about how other forms of energy, that don't involve a lot of fossil fuel, can be used to reduce the impacts of climate change.

A number of organizations have pledged to donate to the Rochester People's Climate Coalition when someone accepts their challenge to participate.
